Executive presence means you are inspiring and influencing decisions when you are not physically present. Influence of your aura is always there.

 

It is about your ability to inspire and present confidence in such a way that  your subordinates appreciate and follow you as their  leader , presenting confidence among peers that they consider  you capable and reliable and, most importantly, inspiring confidence among senior leaders that you have the potential for great achievements . And top of all these you are able to maintain this integrity under severe pressure and uncertainties like Covid pandemic situations by not only leading your life but also help others to transform.

 

Obviously, we all are going through an overwhelming pressure due to Covid—not only personally, professionally however globally.

 

 However true leaders just take a while to think and transform  their  attitude and working style. So that  their presence is not missed for longer. And here’s how to do it:

 

Develop emotional intelligence. Leaders with higher emotional intelligence have the ability not only recognize the emotion  and  know how to transform it into energy.

 

Art of Interaction: A good leader creates meaningful interactions and is able to develop a powerful and supportive culture both on personal and professional level especially during tough situation.Stay connected on personal level also on calls/messages/virtual meetings besides professional. Make them feel you are available for them even in case of personal emergency.

 

Learn to share power and  feelings: During these types of situations, stay professional but with flexibility. It’s not about giving up power and professional attitude, it’s about creating room for  people to participate in this new and  virtual style .

 

 

New working/ lifestyle plan: Make a new lifestyle and working plan .You are working from home but work as a professional only. Wear active clothes but not lounge wear for example T- shirt with collar for regular office day and shirt even when you are having virtual meetings with clients.

Organize a small workplace in the corner of your home. Organize and update all the devices, software and hardwares you are using.

Developing a self-care plan and being consistent with taking a break or time off as needed will prevent depletion and exhaustion.

 

Communicate. Be an active listener. Listen to feel and understand rather than listening to respond. Be a transformational leader. Enhance morale and motivation among followers. Find common ground and encourage people to participate in the discussion. Convenience them  to work towards collectively good.

 

The best transformational leaders are inclusive and inviting, they empower others, dare to share power, give good stability and morale support and easily make lifestyle changes as per circumstances .They show emotional intelligence and proactiveness in making holistic changes so people can act with ease and  create collective intelligence by bringing people and technology together.
