Face the facial

The sun, dirt, grime, pollution, stress - they're all taking a toll on your skin. You may not immediately realize it, but over time it shows. A facial is one of the best ways to take care of your skin. A facial cleans, exfoliates and nourishes the skin, promoting a clear, well-hydrated complexion, and can help your skin look younger. They are normally performed in Beauty salons but are also a common spa treatment.

How often and which type one should get a facial depends on several factors like  skin type, skin condition, skin care goals, budget, age, even where you live.

A facial should begin with a consultation about your skin concerns, diet, how much water drink, drugs and supplements you take, and products you are currently using. The beauty therapist also determining your basic skin type (dry, oily, combination, sensitive or normal) and skin conditions (acne, blackheads, whiteheads, aging, sun-damage, dehydration, etc.) Then chooses the appropriate products and treatments, and consults with you about what he or she sees and recommends.

What's your type?

Normal to dry skin
For a person, with a normal skin type, a facial massage is provided by using nourishing creams. Moisturizers are also used. It includes cleansing, toning and massage (done manually or with the help of gadgets), mask and protection coverage. Different strokes and pressures are applied to various areas. It will rejuvenate the skin and makes it look younger. If you have normal or dry skin, ideally opt for the classic facial or a plant stem facial.

Normal to oily skin
"For those with oily skin, a facial massage with creams or moisturizers is not advised. The facial treatment for oily skin includes deep cleansing with exfoliation, toning, mask and protection. The masks and other procedures help remove excess oils, shrink the pores and make the skin soft and translucent. It clears the pores and deep cleans to prevent the formation of blackheads. The silver facial and pearl facial revives normal to oily skin by giving it the right amount of moisture, and evens out your tone, leaving your skin evidently supple and charming.

Combination skin
Combination skin needs to be treated carefully, since the face has both dry and oily tissues. After cleansing, the dry area of the skin is massaged and the face is toned with a cold compress, using a rose-based skin tonic. The facial should restore the ideal skin balance, keeps the skin free from blemishes and helps in the process of cell renewal. use vitamin-rich oils and aromatherapy essences to relax the body, and improve skin tone and texture. Platinum and gem facials are recommended.

A facial is the second most popular spa treatment after a massage. A facial works best when it is part of an on-going program of skin care. No matter your age, there are certain ingredients that can work wonders. A light skin polishing that uniformly clears dead skin cells is recommended. Try out a de-stressing aloe Vera facial massage that removes impurities and rejuvenates the skin. Always go for fresh fruit, rose, marigold and jasmine based masks that add a radiant glow to the skin.
